Corona is a small rural ranching community situated 34 miles south of Vaughn and 47 miles north of Carrizozo on State Hwy 54 in the far northeast corner of Lincoln County, New Mexico. The community and the ranches in the area have approximately 236 families living within the boundaries of the Corona Public School that encompasses 2,081 square miles. From east to west the district spans more than 90 miles. The distance from the northwest corner to the far southeast corner is 56 miles. Seventy five families (30%) have a child or grandchild in school or provide services directly to the school. Seventy percent of Corona students live on ranches and/or ride the bus to school. The longest bus ride is a one-way trip of 59 miles. The remaining students live in town.

Corona Public Schools' Mission Statement

The mission of the Corona Public School district is to support the best possible educational experiences for our students by providing student-oriented staff, utilizing technical resources and implementing relevant curriculum. It is the schools' responsibility to prepare sutdents to be productive citizens who prosper socially, politically and economically in an ever-changing global society.
